Happy Groundhog Day!
We all remember scenes from the Bill Murray movie, where Bill plays newsman Phil covering the annual Groundhog Day event in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania. Phil finds himself in a time loop, repeating the same day again and again. The day plays out exactly as it did before, with no one but Phil aware of the time loop. At first he is confused, but, he decides use the advantage of the situation with no fear of long-term consequences.
He begins to use his by-now vast experience of the day to help as many people around town as possible and help change the outcomes. Eventually, Phil is able to befriend almost everyone he meets during the day, using his experiences to save lives and help townspeople.
In many cities animal control facilities are living "Groundhog Day" where loving companion animals are faced with the end of their lives because HUMANS let them down. But, over 500 US cities have taken the 'No Fear' challenge and moved to aligning the safety and well-being of their resident animals with the well being of their community residents and declaring that a community that protects its animals is protecting its residents. The two initiatives are a requirement for a safe city.
On this Groundhog Day, we can use our experience of all the days before to help many. Working together with PAWsitive energy and determination FUR the animals of Roswell, New Mexico. Today is a new beginning. Join us FUR them.
